Consultation
The first two sessions serve as an initial consultation to determine whether you are comfortable working with me and whether I am the best person to help you. This is an opportunity to see whether it is a good "fit" for us to work together. During the first two sessions, we will review confidentiality, therapy and payment, in order for you to better understand what it will be like to work with me. I also use this time to gather more information about your current presenting concerns and your history in order to help formulate a plan for future therapy should we decide to work together. If not, then I will be happy to provide referrals to other providers in the area that may better suite your needs.
Individual Sessions
Individual psychotherapy sessions last for 50 minutes. I offer both short and long-term therapy, depending on your needs. I have experience working with people with a wide variety of concerns including but not limited to: relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, eating disorders/ body image concerns, bereavement/ loss, sexuality and gender concerns, and adjustment to new transitions. We will use the first few session to outline your primary concerns and develop a treatment plan towards achieving your therapy goals. Weekly sessions are optimal to make the changes towards improving your emotional well-being.
Couples Sessions
Sessions with couples last for 50 minutes. The first several sessions are devoted to learning more about your dynamic as a couple and understanding your relationship concerns. I work collaboratively with couples to identify areas of strength in the relationship and areas which need improvement. I help couples better understand their unique dynamic so they can move forward in achieving their goals. Goals in couples therapy may include enhancing communication, strengthening your intimate connection, developing better tools for managing conflict, re-establishing trust, working through past hurt and better understanding your partner. I work with both opposite-sex and same-sex couples.
